The Westport River in Massachusetts lies between Narragansett Bay and Buzzards Bay. It is regarded as a difficult river to enter, and local knowledge is required. When you look at the chart, the entrance is through the pass at the Knubble. You then make a right angle turn to port and follow the buoys. Moorings, which follow the channel after it turns East, are available from FL Tripp. The town dock is north of buoys 28 and 30. You cannot anchor in the river near Tripp or the Yacht Club. The current is fierce and the bottom is scoured down to hard surface. F.L. Tripp and Sons is a full service boatyard and marina located in Westport Pt, MA on the Westport River Toll-free 877-513-8958, Tel 508-636-4058 The entire channel was re-marked by the Coast Guard in 2001, so the numbers will differ from the older charts. Give Tripp a shout on Channel 9 if you need help and we'll talk you in.

Tripp has a number of transient mooring available. They are usually in the West End of the mooring field and are marked with a small yellow float. Mooring field depth is 8-10 ft. We do at times have a few closer ones available if someone is away. Launch service is a call (ch.9) away. Transient dockage is available on a request basis. There are some available slips at the Back Eddy Restaurant if you prefer. Dockside depths range in the 12 ft. range. Electrical hook and water is available. We have gasoline, diesel, ice and a marine store. Repairs of all kinds are available. Haul out can handle up to 20 tons. Free pump out is available at the gas dock or by calling the Harbormaster on Ch..9. A local livery service can get you to and from Lees Supermarket for stocking empty shelves and coolers. We have laundry, heads and showers. (24/7 & Handicap accessible)
